About
XPONTO is a freelance design practice by Sandra Zarkovic, art director and graphic designer based in Vancouver. She works in many areas of design, from visual identities and printed matter to web design and art direction for a diverse group of clients. Sandra applies research led design process and critical thinking to develop effective, creative solutions that address commercial needs. A firm believer that the success of a project depends on trust, she aims to collaborate with clients and colleagues who share the same values and principles.
Sandra was born and raised in Belgrade, where she gained knowledge in calligraphy, visual and communication arts at The School of Industrial Design. She lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco prior to moving to Vancouver. In 2003, Sandra graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where she studied drawing, painting, printmaking and photography, while also taking courses in graphic design. In the same year she produced mixed media works, which she exhibited at AION Art Gallery and Blim, before devoting herself to graphic design.
Sandra worked freelance for several years and became involved in creating visual identities, packaging, brochures, posters and designing websites for commercial and non-profit organizations. In 2006, she started working as an Art Director for NUVO Magazine, where she redefined publication’s visual style and established design principles that were consistent with the character of the magazine. Sandra has collaborated with some of the most promising as well as established talent in photography and illustration. Having worked at NUVO for over two years, she now freelances as a designer and director.
